Love of the Woody
Dedicated to learning, building, restoring, preserving and enjoying wooden boats of all kinds, the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Foundation has been responsible, with cooperation from the whole community, for sponsoring an annual boat festival that has become one of largest and best known in the country. Even if you're not a boating enthusiast, it's great fun. PT attracts visitors year round for many and varied events and festivals, but none so grand as the Wooden Boat Festival's four days in September, when this little town of seven or eight thousand, joined by thousands of visitors from far and near, comes alive with non-stop programs, events, music, dancing and feasting in a veritable celebration of boats, the arts and the good life.

Well, now I know when I want to come up your way. That festival sounds marvelous, and I hadn't heard of it before. They are expensive to keep up, but there is nothing on the water more lovely than a fine wooden boat.

Kim,
Yes, the WBF in September is a great time to visit, but anytime is good for a PT retreat. I love Seattle (lived there for some time) and you're doing it a great service with your beautiful SDP blog. Thanks for your comment. raf
Thank you, Alaya for your comment. I couldn't agree with you more - a beautiful bold blue. raf
