A sudden calm

It's a good day when you come spinning around a noisy street corner downtown and are suddenly calmed by a flutist's soft tones floating on the wind. I stopped awhile and listened to the soothing music of a street musician named Daniel Walking Bear. I thought he might be playing something from R Carlos Nakai, but he said he plays mostly his own work. Between tunes, he chatted just long enough to say that he is, in essence, " ...a five fingered carbon-based unit. All the rest is speculation." What was not speculation to me were the haunting melodies I kept hearing in my head for the rest of the day. Thanks, Dan....hope to catch you again another time.

That's some description, 'a five fingered carbon-based unit. Great street photo. I am involved in a project where I take 100 photos of strangers and asks them a few questions, great fun ant a bit challenging.

The sounds flutes make to me is one of the nicest of all instruments.

Coincidentally, Mme. la Vache et je went to Sonoma. A very fine saxophonist was playing on one corner of the town square. We toured the old mission (the last in the California mission chain). When we were in the yard behind the mission, we could still hear the saxophonist. It was a nice accompanyment to our tour.

Thank you for visiting SF Bay Daily photo and for you kind comments, especially on the rainbow Mme. la Vache caught on camera.

This flute even LOOKS good. Amazing what music can come out of a stick of wood. Wish I could hear this man playing.

This inspires me to go out and talk to some of our street musicians. Long, looooong ago I actually did a bit of busking here in Victoria myself. Also will try to get a shot of a double decker bus today - we have two kinds - traditional London UK models imported from old blighty and modern versions that are just parts of the transit system running regular routes.
