Nearly every summer we get back home to Texas for family visits and most always I find a way for us to wiggle over to Luckenbach in the central Texas Hill Country and touch base. All I need on a hot summer day is a few hours to sit there in the shade of the live oak trees with an ice cold Shiner in hand and listen to some good music and watch folks enjoy themselves. There are singles and couples and families with children. There are ranchers and farmers and city slickers and bikers and hikers. It all works. No ticket to park. No ticket to get in. Just stroll on behind the general store, grab a seat and slip back in time to a slower pace of life. I'm never disappointed by a visit there. Luckenbach is just symbolic and/or nostalgic I guess of growing up in Texas more than a few years ago.

Wow. It looks so serene and I bet a lot of friends meet there. I know I would go if I had a chance. Is it pronounced
"Luck-in-back?" Or "Lock-in-back?"
I'm embarrassed to say that I've never been there. Maybe I'll meet you there next summer! Great shots, Raf. Maybe you should post a clip of the song to help everybody pronounce it! Think Waylon would mind?? LOL.
Waylon, Willie and the boys. Ah yes. How cool. Thanks for posting this. MB
Great post and photos on "the center of the universe".
Thanks for the visit,
Troy and Martha
This looks like a fantastic way to spend a few hours! I can hear the music from here!
Hey Raf, pop on over to Corsicana Daily Photo tomorrow. I have a surprise for you!
It's me again! OOPS. Your surprise will be at Gun Barrel City Daily Photo, not Corsicana!
That was a long way from home - but none the worse for that!
Yanks for the comment!
A good time had by all by the look of it. W jsut don't have enough of this sort of thing here.
Love the last photo. We were in Fredericksburg just this weekend...didn't make it over to Luchenbach, now I wish we would have. Glad you are having such a great time here in Texas.
hehehe
....and "Louis" is from LUBBOCK, Texas.
In the spirit of Willie, Waylon, and the boys, I say, "Congrats to you on the fine time you had," and "Thanks for posting the photos and your wonderfully written thoughts." I'm feeling totally laid back now, thanks to this post and what it conjures in my mind.
Yip, this ain’t PT.
