Good books and old friends

First of the month and it's Theme Day once again for our community of City Daily Photo bloggers. Books is the theme for this month. It just so happens that the The Art of Racing in the Rain was the last read at our house before meeting with old friends last week for book club. Our little book club group of eight friends has been meeting several times a year for many years, gathering 'round the table to break bread, share stories and discuss our recent reads. What better than a good read and having good friends to discuss it.
As for Garth Stein's, The Art of Racing in the Rain, we loved it. It's a light, clever, fast read that will keep the smiles coming and also provide some good life lessons along the way. Especially if you love dogs, don't miss this one.

I've often thought about starting a book group over the years, but I then become gripped with my inner hermit. And then there's the gremlin that messes up the house...

I love books and I love dogs so this is a must. I've noted it down and will order it. Thanks a lot! And a lovely image too and story that goes with your reading of it.

Nice choice for theme day.

I forgot about theme day today so I just found some of the books I wrote and took a photo and published that. Too late to be included in the group but it worked for me. LOL

Based on your photo and commentary, I'm going to my library's site right now to find the book! Later I'll walk to it and pick it up...hopefully.

You have described a wonderful atmosphere of your book-group.
Infact, what could be better in autum/winter evenings than get together and discuss books with some wine and cheese in front of an open fire!!

Well, my library system has it but all 3 copies have been checked out; now I'll just have to wait in line! If you like dog books, you MUST read: Where Does it Hurt (by a vet--very funny in spots and very poignant in others) and the wildly humorous, Marley and Me.

That will be a must read for me. Thanks. I always thought it would be fun to be in a book club but never pursured it. MB

I'll check the library for that one. Intrigued by the yellow lab on the cover. My daughter has a yellow lab, and rides her bike to work most days even if it's raining, so would guess from the title there might be some parallel.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Greetings from Juneau (Alaska) Daily Photo!
I agree nothing better than a group of friends sharing their thoughts about a good read.

This sounds like an excellent book. I look forward to reading it.

Mahalo for the book suggestion. If my girlfriend ends up moving to your town, I'll share with her about your book club as she's an avid reader.

This looks like an excellent read! I just reserved it from our regional Library network!

lovely picture but what is impressive is that you are in a bookclub. very rare - our library bkclb got a MAN 2 years ago, & since there have been 2 other husbands that joined. It does curb the selection of titles but in a good way. I'll check your title out.
