After watching the skies slowly clear throughout the morning at the market, we noticed right about noon little wisps of fog beginning to reappear on the bay and skyline around us. So we climbed the stairs to Lowell's bar and found great ringside seats to watch the interplay of sun and fog on Elliott Bay while enjoying a good lunch.
Even with the ubiquitous tourists, Lowell's has long been one of several favorite spots in the market for locals and market vendors to gather after work. All three levels of Lowell's enjoy sweeping views of Elliott Bay with its maritime traffic and activites. Great spot too, while having dinner or refreshment, for watching the sun set over the Olympic peaks on the horizon.
The food at Lowell's is good standard fare, but it is the location, view and interesting people that have kept me returning there for many years.
By the time we had finished our leisurely lunch, the fog had bested the sun and was rolling back in as we made our way down 1st ave for a visit to SAM, the Seattle Art Museum.

Oh what fun. I see that the fog did win after all. Great story, thanks for the treat. MB
