A common sight in our winter skies is the unending parade of gulls working a stretch of shoreline. We enjoy watching them on our beach walks along the bluffs as they catch the updrafts from winds off the water and glide for long distances down the beach while scanning the surf, sand and tidal pools below for their next meal. They then slowly work their way back up the beach and maneuver into position for yet another long sail down the shore. All in a day's work for these sturdy gliders.

What a great shot of the gull in motion, and the words create the whole scene in our minds.
I love to see them swoop over the ferries, and occasionally dip to take a treat from someone's hand.
Now, that gets a top placement from me!!!
Gulls are fun to watch. I think we see so many of them we forget to sit back and observe their activities. When my late husband was ill I would take him down to Padilla Bay to watch the Gulls work the estuary. Amazing. MB
Water and birds....doesn't get much better than that, does it? This is a great action shot, Raf!!
Thanks for the nice welcome back!
Perfect catch to go with the text. Birds in flight are just so majestic.
Beautiful capture. We somehow have lots of seagulls where I am, relatively far inland. I think Hurricane Kate drove them in...
lovely shot. i like the moody background.
What better focal point for a sky than a beautiful bird!
Nice shot.
