I is for - In the same boat

A few weeks ago at Point Hudson, during a cold and snowy day, I happened to catch this group of young mariners from the Port Townsend school district about to push off from the dock in a longboat for a turn around the bay. This group of youth is known as the Puget Sound Explorers, Bravo Team. In addtion to learning maritime skills and teamwork they are responsible for the yearly haul-out and maintenance of the longboat, Bear.
The Bear is one of several boats owned by the Wooden Boat Foundation which provides many recreational and educational programs in the area for youth and adults.

This is almost poster stuff. Reminds me of Philip Plisson's photos. Excellent shot!

While that should be fun--it just looks wet and icky in the snow.
Neat shot though. MB

Wow - intrepid bunch of young people! I bet they had fun though. I remember not really feeling the cold and wet when I was young.

Nice subject for today!

Great photo - the rain, the animation of the people implied by the color of the raingear, the otherwise calm surroundings.
I guess it's true that in the NW people do whatever they intended - come rain or come shine.
If you have a chance, visit Granny Smith's post - she has a musician son in your area.

That takes dedication - on your part (to get the photo) and on their part to do whatever it is they are doing...

Very colorful!

At least they are learning about the rain :-)

Not my favourite kind of weather for a boat trip, but better than horizontal hail! Fine, colourful shot, particularly considering the snow.
