A day for the tulips

Yesterday we drove over to Mary Beth's neck of the woods and enjoyed a beautiful spring day visiting the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. The tulips were at full blossom and the fields flooded with brilliant color and thousands of visitors. We got an early start on the day, so we were done in the fields by lunch time and after a little dockside dining in LaConner, headed south over Deception Pass to Whidbey Island and caught the Keystone ferry home to Port Townsend.
There were many people taking pictures in the rows of flowers and my wife, Nancy, captured this shot of a family at play.

This is a compelling photograph. I can just see this one hanging on the wall. Nice work.

Very beautiful. I love tulips, and love to see others enjoying them, too.

Aren't they sweet! This is a lovely shot. We got so lost on our Sunday drive, so we didn't actually get to a tulip field (Tulip Town) until 4 PM. It was so lovely and enchanting, we closed the place down about 650 shots later at 7 PM. We had never been out that way and hadn't planned on going this year until some longstanding plans for Sunday got unexpectedly canceled and we just started driving. I found the people just as fascinating and colorful as the flowers. Maybe it was the lovely day affecting everyone, but the constant smiles on people's faces and the joy in the air over seeing the blooms really impressed me. I thought of MB the whole while we were out there, but no way to contact her with our spontaneous adventure. Sorry we missed you, too!

Lovely day for the tulips yesterday, Raf. Fun seeing the kids among the tulips, though I shudder to think about the clay/mud on their shoes when it's time to get back into the car. -:)

Wonderful array of colours here, Raf. The straightness of the girl's hair is just the right touch. I love how you seem to spend half your life on a ferry of some sort. Guess it goes with the terrain ...
