The Road to Omaha

Since we're in Omaha today, we have Rosenblatt Stadium to represent our R in this week's ABC Wednesday post. This great old Omaha baseball field has been the location for the College World Series for more than fifty years and will soon be abandoned and replaced by a new ballpark downtown. To keep the CWS games in Omaha for the foreseeable future, the NCAA requires a modern facility with conditions the "Blatt" does not provide. So a tip of the hat for Rosenblatt with its long history of providing a great venue for college baseball's "big dance". We enjoyed being there last season to watch the Oregon State Beavers win their second College World Series championship in a row.

To view or learn about ABC Wednesday visit Mrs. Nesbitt's Place.

I love watching the college world series. Back in the day I would go to Texas baseball games, it was always a great atmosphere.

It sounds fitting, but baseball is a practically unknown sport in Europe.

Thanks for stopping by in "Belgrade!" I haven't been browsing as much as I like; super-busy, but just to say I like your "R" photo, since the only sport aside from tennis I like to watch/attend is baseball.

And I also LOVE your odd shot of the red ballons; beautiful. Have you seen the classic film, Le Ballon Rouge?

An interesting 'r' word. Impressive list of colleges that have participated too. Love baseball. My uncle played in the minors with the DiMagio bros for the San Francisco Seals...they went to the show and my uncle got married...
Thanks for sharing some Americana!

It always seems sad to tear down a building with so much history and replace it with a modern one that probably won't last as long. Ah progress. MB
