Martha's helm

My choice for ABC Wednesday's letter H is helm. A ship's helm is the steering device for controlling its rudder. Either a wheel or tiller is used on most vessels for steering. Today's image is of the helm on the 84 foot schooner, Martha. She is one of several long, sleek and tall wooden schooners that make Port Townsend their home port. She is owned and operated by the non-profit organization, Schooner Martha Foundation, which provides sailing trips and educational programs for youth, adults and families. More information and this year's sailing schedule can be found here.

The schooner, Martha, also works today for my own theme of using Wood on Wednesday.
